Langford Beer Festival Wine Cellar...

Message from Norman and Jill who have successfully run the wine cellar for the last 5 years:

The Langford Beer Festival continues to provide a fantastic range of entertainment, fine Ales and an ambience that’s hard to beat. Not everyone though likes to drink Ale and so for the last 5 years we have been running the Wine Cellar. If you haven’t been before then you will find a good range of wines to suit most tastes and if you are not sure what your taste is, then why not try a little of them all to see what you like through our tutored wine tasting. For those regulars who come each year, you will know that we change our line up each year to keep things interesting. We like to respond to comments we get at the event and adapt to emerging trends.

Great Setting

At the wine cellar we also want you to enjoy your wine in appropriate surroundings and so we decorate and set out the marquee to give it a kind of cosy bistro feel. It also occupies a prime spot on the complex and affords a good view of the band and is right next to the food. What more could you ask for?
Everyone’s taste in wine is unique therefore we carefully select different wines from around the world each year, that vary in style and where for example, the same grape variety can be dramatically different from country to country. If you tend to drink Australian Red for example, we have a nice one, though we might suggest trying a similar Chilean or French equivalent to compare, or why not try something completely different.
The format for the wine is that we offer 4 reds, 4 whites and a fizz. If you are interested in wine, come and have a chat with us and we will talk you through each wine and offer advice.  Whilst we would not claim to be experts, we have a passion for wine, enjoy what we drink and continually strive to learn more. We go to many outlets in this country and abroad to source wines that we think you will enjoy (they are wines that we personally like and enjoy and may well keep in our own personal stock). Our aim is to provide something a bit different and not just what you might find in your local supermarket. Wine is purchased using beer tokens that you can buy at the entrance to the event. We offer wine by the (125ml) glass at 2 tokens (3 for a larger glass (175ml ) and 4 for the fizz , or why not try a tasting of them all for 6 tokens.

The Wines this year will be:-
Reds.

Errazuriz Carmenere 2007, Wolf Blass Shiraz Cabernet 2006, Domaine De La Motte, Beaujolais 2006, Cuvee Des Amandiers,

Whites.

Vin du Pays D'oc, Sauvignon 2006, Brganze Pinot Grigio Superior 2007, Bellevue Hill Chardonnay 2007, Kings River Viognier 2007,
Champagne, De Barfontarc Brut

Cider
2 years ago we also began selling Cider which was extremely popular. Starting with one scrumpy, we have expanded the range since then to suit differing tastes. The Scrumpy is from a small but well known Cider farm in Somerset (Wilkins) and is medium dry and around 6% though it can vary from batch to batch. It’s the real stuff and not for the faint hearted. Based on feedback from the first year we introduced 2 Western’s Ciders. Their standard 4.5% and Old Rosey at 7%. All the Ciders are 1 token the same price as the beers.
Whatever your tipple, come and relax and have a good time. We look forward to seeing you.
